SkinPen Microneedling
60–75 minutes
What is SkinPen Microneedling?
When you have a specific correction in mind — the look of deep or rolling acne scars, defined textural scarring, stretch-mark texture — this is the precision tool built for it. SkinPen microneedling is adjustable-depth collagen-induction therapy: fine needles move rapidly to create thousands of controlled channels, and your provider dials the exact depth and pattern to your concern, zone by zone. Your skin reads those controlled micro-channels as something to repair and answers by building new collagen — the structural protein that firms and smooths — filling in and softening the look of scars and crepey texture over the following weeks. Because depth is adjustable, our advanced esthetician stays shallow on delicate areas and goes deeper and slower where the concern sits lower in the skin (so expect some pinpoint bleeding in the deeper zones). It's often planned as a series, with an optional topical PRF boost drawn from your own blood and applied on the surface only — never injected. Face sessions run about 60 to 75 minutes, with redness, mild swelling, tightness, and light flaking that usually settles within a few days. This is targeted correction that softens the look of these concerns over a planned series — mapped to your skin at consultation. Which acne scars does microneedling help? It's best matched to the look of atrophic scarring — the soft, depressed kinds like rolling and boxcar scars — and to crepey texture and enlarged-looking pores. Deeper icepick scars can respond less to needling alone and may call for a combined plan. If you have active breakouts, those come first; microneedling is for the marks and texture acne leaves behind. SkinPen vs. microchanneling: SkinPen is the adjustable-depth, correction-first tool — you dial depth to a specific concern — while Procell microchanneling pairs channeling with a growth-factor serum for overall skin quality. Many clients use each for different goals. Serving Punta Gorda, Port Charlotte, Englewood, North Port, and Venice — walk-ins welcome when the schedule allows, or book ahead to lock in your time.

What is the SkinPen device?
SkinPen is an FDA-cleared microneedling device that lets your provider precisely adjust needle depth and pattern to your specific concern — from surface-level texture to deeper scar tissue. Your provider selects the exact settings for your skin and goals at consultation.
Does it hurt, and how much downtime is there?
Most people feel a vibrating, scratchy, sandpaper-like sensation; deeper settings and bony areas feel more intense, and topical numbing may be used per policy. Afterward, redness, mild swelling, tightness, and light flaking are common. Authoritative sources describe redness and exfoliative scaling lasting about two to three days, with deeper corrective and body work running longer; we frame normal recovery as resolving within about three to ten days and give written aftercare rather than a fixed promise.
Can it remove my acne scars?
No treatment should promise removal. SkinPen microneedling is designed to improve the appearance of selected scars over time by supporting new collagen, but deep ice-pick, tethered, or hypertrophic and keloid-prone scars may need a clinician's assessment or a different approach. Outcomes develop gradually and vary by person.
Does it treat active acne?
No. Microneedling is not for active acne, and active breakouts in the treatment area mean we postpone. For active acne, our Face Reality acne program is the right path. SkinPen microneedling comes into play for the appearance of scarring once the skin is clear and calm.
What is the topical PRF upgrade, and is it injected?
PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) is prepared from a small sample of your own blood, drawn on-site, and applied on the surface during the needling as an autologous boost; it adds a draw, prep time, and screening. It is topical only, never injected. The FDA states microneedling devices are not authorized to deliver blood products into the skin. Injectable PRF is a separate procedure performed by our RN.
How many sessions will I need, and when will I see results?
Most corrective goals are a series, often three to six sessions about four to six weeks apart, then individualized maintenance; acne-scar and body work can run longer. Early changes often show in about two to six weeks, and new collagen keeps remodeling for weeks to months. Individual results vary.
Does microneedling help with acne scars?
Yes — microneedling is a well-established option for softening the look of atrophic acne scarring like rolling and boxcar scars by prompting your skin to build new collagen. Deeper icepick scars may respond less to needling alone; your consultation confirms the right plan.
How many microneedling sessions will I need?
It depends on your scar depth, skin, and how you respond — some goals need only a few visits, others more. Rather than a fixed number, we map a plan to your skin at consultation and adjust as it improves.
Can microneedling improve the appearance of stretch marks?
It can help soften the look of mature stretch marks and body texture by stimulating collagen in the treated area. Body skin is thicker, so results build gradually over a planned course, tailored to the zone and concern.
